MS Writing B Description

This writing course is designed to equip students to express their voices through numerous forms of writing: narrative stories, summaries, creative pieces, formal essays, reports, critiques, and poetry, among others. Note-taking and outline creation will be emphasized. Stylistic techniques and varied sentence structures will be taught to enhance the students’ writing. MLA format will be introduced and implemented. Writing assignments will be evaluated using rubrics. Students will be reinforcing and expanding their knowledge of grammar and applying their understanding to their writing. Students will read one novel each quarter with corresponding assignments aimed at highlighting a Biblical perspective, enriching the students’ vocabulary, increasing comprehension, and honing critical thinking skills. Games, projects, and peer reviews will be included in developmental lessons to improve the students’ proficiency and keep their interest. Quizzes will focus on grammar, vocabulary, literary elements, format, and structure. MS Writing is the foundational English class for MS students and is a prerequisite for MS Literature and Composition.
