Elizabeth Blanchard

Art Teacher

Elizabeth Blanchard is a 1995 graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and a 1999 graduate of Campbell University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology. She practiced art in high school and college but put it aside until 2011, when she began painting in oils. Soon after, she became the art teacher at God's Homeschool Warriors in Suffolk, where her three children attended, and then went on to teach art at Suffolk Christian Academy until the birth of her 4th child in 2017. She is currently homeschooling, serving at her church, and painting whenever she can. Elizabeth teaches oil painting to adults at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, as well as teaches workshops and painting classes for churches. She believes in the expression of the arts in many different mediums and styles, such as acrylic, watercolors, pastels, soft and oil, pencil, fiber arts, collage, mixed media, clay/pottery, and sculpture. Elizabeth emphasizes hard work and practice over talent and believes that we can learn so much about our Creator by taking form, pattern, and line, as well as many other facets, which we see rightly as the order of creation, and imitate, expand, illuminate, and rearrange them in our own creation of art.
