Sharlene Hammond holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her professional teaching experience includes four years of full-day Kindergarten at South Allegheny Early Childhood Center in Pittsburgh, PA, and three years of second grade at Little Creek Elementary School in Norfolk Public Schools. She left her professional teaching career when she and her husband had their son, and she has been homeschooling her son since the beginning of his schooling journey. In addition to teaching him at home, she took on multiple voluntary teaching positions at New Harvest Christian Homeschool Co-Op in Virginia Beach, teaching elementary and middle school Writing & Literature. She is passionate about teaching at all levels and strives to instill within each one of her students a love for learning and the drive to continue moving forward in their academic pursuits. Though her heart will always be in her hometown of Pittsburgh, she’s happy to call Virginia Beach “home”. She enjoys reading, designing and building curriculum and teaching resources, cheering on her Pittsburgh Steelers, baking, all things coffee, family game nights, and traveling to theme parks with her husband and son. She is married to Dave, a former Naval aviator turned private contractor, and together, they have one son and one sweet pup named Cookie.
